Skin care is essential throughout the year, but summer time skin care can be tricky and requires a specific kind of regime. Now that summer is upon us in all its glory, and is accompanied with a whole lot of skin care issues – we must first identify our skin type, as the simmering heat and blazing sun rays can be unforgiving to the skin. Oily skin gets oilier, and dry skin gets patchy. There are breakouts and pimples, rashes and roughness, and that acne just wouldn’t go away.
Here are some tips and tricks to maintain that summer glow…
Should know your skin type
First and foremost we should be able to identify our skin type. Summer months need products that let your skin breathe naturally. Go for lighter lotions and serums. Remember to choose gel-based products for dry skin and water based products for oil skin; while following the cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine.
Sunscreens are a must
I never used to apply sunscreen as a teenager or even in my early twenties. But I learned the hard way that this often ignored product should be applied religiously while going out, in order to prevent pigmentation, tanning and early signs of aging. Buy a sunscreen that has UVA and UVB, and has SPF more than 30.
Never forget the lips
Most of us focus on our skin but ignore the lips. If not taken care properly, the UV rays can darken them and increase the dullness. To protect your lips always use a lip balm with an SPF of 15 to maintain the freshness.
Exfoliating skin
Your body sheds skin cells every minute every day. If you don’t get rid of them, they’ll just set in on your skin making you look dull and dry. No matter how much you moisturize your body, you’re never going to have glowing skin if you don’t exfoliate it. So choose your favorite scrub and hit the shower at least once a week.
These are just the key points to keep in mind, there are numerous others that one can follow. But remember, we can never have the same skin care routine though out the year. We have to cater to our skins demands and needs, along with changing seasons.
